Seal beach is a great beach for families, there are bathrooms open to the public and plenty of parking. The waves aren't too big and lots of people use this beach to swim or paddle board. This beach isn't too crowed like Santa Monica so if you decide to bring a tent or tarp there is plenty of room for it.

Santa Monica, California
Long Beach, California
Long Beach is a pleasant beach with a wide walking, biking, and skating trail. It's waves aren't very large due to the breakwater placed in the harbor in the 1940's. The still water makes it a popular beach to paddleboard and kayak. There is plenty of metered parking, and this beach is also accessible by foot, from Ocean Blvd.
Piñones, Puerto Rico
Huatulco, Oaxaca Mexico
Playa Huatulco is located in Mexico. This is a great spot to snorkel and swim, it's a shallow area with no waves. This beach is kind of tucked away from the main roads which makes it nice and private. There are a few food shacks and vendors to choose from.

Redondo Beach, California
Redondo Beach is located in Southern California, close to Palos Verdes. During the summer time the water is usually luke warm by noon and by that time the sun is high in the sky burning hot.If you are planning on spending most of your day there it's better to get there early so you can find a good spot to set your things down.On this beach you can sail a boat, go surfing, or swim. If you're not a great swimmer i wouldn't recommend going any deeper then your waist, the waves can be very strong at times.
